Summer in the Cairngorms National Park is known for it’s outstanding beauty, archaic castles, activities and of course lots of distilleries.
The Cairngorms is a great place to roam or perhaps bike around. The landscape is filled with challenging biking routes that promise a thrilling biking experience. There are lots of local places to hire a bike from. Mike’s Bikes is a local bike hire service near to Muckrach Hotel who will also deliver and collect the bikes from the hotel.
Whilst you are wandering or biking around the beautiful Cairngorms National Park, make sure that you keep an eye out for the diverse wildlife. A quarter of the UK’s rare and endangered species live in the Cairngorms such as the capercaillie, pine marten, mountain hare and the golden eagle are just a few to be named.
Why not give fishing a go? There are lots of lochs and rivers in the park that offer excellent angling. The River Spey is just down the road from us and offers wild salmon throughout the summer months. The River Dulnain is directly infront of the hotel and offers 2 fishing pools. Of course whilst you are in Scotland visit a Distillery. There are over 120 active distilleries spread across Scotland and 47 of them are in the Highlands and Islands. The oldest distillery is Glenturret which dates to 1775. The Whisky around this region is known for being sweet, malty, spicy and fruity. Our bar at Muckrach also stocks 100 whiskies.
